I don't like the sound of that at all. It sounds like the country is heading straight back to military rule after their democratically elected president has been assassinated.

No, on the contrary, the death of Nino Vieira is indeed a good chance for Guinea Bissau to get a new chance.
Nino was elected, but because of the fact that he dominated the place. The military did not depose the government, that means a lot.
Not that I agree with assassinating people, but the fact is that he was a spoiler.
It's very hard for Guinea Bissau to get much worse than it is already, given the appalling poverty in which its people live. I don't think there'll be a civil war, in fact this death will rather prevent a civil war.

Guinea is one of the poorest countries in the world. Currently, it is being used as a safe haven for colombian drug cartels who used it as a basis in Africa for their traffic activities.
